An "On-The-Wrist" Review of the Piaget Polo F orty F ive Chronograph By Anthony Tsai © August 2009 Do you remember the day when you had your first gulp of beer, sip of wine, shot of vodka, tequila, or whiskey? What was the first thought in your mind? - " ...

Great Review

 By: Meehna : August 16th, 2009-22:06
Thanks, Anthony, for a comprehensive review that really gave me a sense of this watch. I like your style that blends objective facts with personal experience. I appreciate Piaget as a brand and of their offerings; however, the Piaget Polo FortyFive Chrono...

Thanks Meehna for your comments

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 17th, 2009-19:59
I believe watch reviews should always have personal experience written into it, especially personal wrist time. If not, then they'll be the same mumbo jumbo that many other industry websites and blogs put up where I believe the writers have not even seen ...

thank you anthony!!

 By: Spoon : August 16th, 2009-23:24
my dad has decided to get the polo after many helpful chaps chimed in and gave their inputs to my post. read your initial review in the Piaget section and its what spurred my dad into considering the Polo 45. Like i said he was decided even before this re...

Glad to hear your dad will choose the PoloFortyFive!

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 17th, 2009-20:01
Is he going to get the black dial or silver dial? And for you, time to start doing some wrist curls so you can grow into his strap Cheers, AT

BLACK!

 By: Spoon : August 17th, 2009-20:38
he wanted the silver dial but then again he just got the white faced VC overseas chrono so something different will be the order of the day. i find the black to be superior over the white. the black dial has perfect contrast and blends all the dial detail...

Agreed. I think the black dial version is better than the silver dialed

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 17th, 2009-20:52
for the chronograph model. I'm not sure yet for the regular time only model but I did like the look of the silver dial w/ light grey rubber strap though. My guess would be we probably won't see dozen variants of the Polo FortyFive since Piaget is a conser...

This was a great read, Anthony!

 By: dxboon : August 16th, 2009-23:57
Thanks also for the videos. I love whenever videos are posted to the site! I heartily agree with you that the Piaget rubber strap coupled with the curvature of the crystal create this amazingly comfortable, close-fitting strap experience. I enjoyed puttin...

This is the 1st time I've used HD videos in a watch review

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 17th, 2009-20:06
and I think I love it because videos definitely give a much better perspective, look, and possible maybe even feel of the watch. It also helps greatly that now we have video hosting sites such as YouTube that host HD videos and keep them in widescreen for...

The numerous hours of work was well worth it!

 By: pingtsai : August 17th, 2009-07:07
Excellent, thorough, informative, affective, and visually stimulating review. JOB WELL DONE!

Hheh I don't think people will believe you since u're my wife :P

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 17th, 2009-20:09
But yes, this review did take forever to write (much longer than normal) but it was fun putting it all together. Best part of it was when I pressed the "Insert" button to post the review The elation I felt as well as the lifting of a huge burden off my sh...

Wow "suitable" from the Mrs. I feel honored :)

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 17th, 2009-20:12
Wow that is going to be a tough choice ... get both and write a Piaget Polo FortyFive Chrono vs. L.U.C Chrono One smackdown review! Cheers, AT

Thanks AT for the detailed coverage ...

 By: Kong : August 17th, 2009-13:29
I agree with you about the date window, should just focus on the day itself. Somehow, not sure why many brands like to print on the functions of the subdials. Quite a looker this piece. I like the expandable system on the deployant. Could the chronograph ...

Not sure if the chrono can be activated underwater

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 17th, 2009-13:45
I didn't read anything about it in the brand literature, so I didn't want to try it out in case I break the watch :P If it doesn't say, then it should be safe to assume that it is not recommended to do so IMO. Cheers, Anthony This message has been edited ...

Thanks...thought the rubber on the pushers ...

The videos are a nice feature, the pictures top shelf as usual. Thank you for your time. The Polo 45 really hits me in a way that no other watch has as of yet.

Glad you liked the review Kevin

Art's told me in the past that you're a huge Piaget fan, so I really hope you enjoyed the review. Maybe at the next local GTG, we'll see one on your wrist? If so, drinks are on me Cheers, Anthony

What a wonderful review!

 By: Allen : August 17th, 2009-17:05
Thanks for going into detail every single aspect of this watch that I can think of. I almost bought one a few months ago on impulse. It felt really really good on the wrist. I just felt guilty when I reached for my wallet. I'll have to check back with the...

Resistance is futile Allen!

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 17th, 2009-20:17
Just wait until you can cut the rubber strap (that's if you do buy one) so you can see how really comfortable it is one the wrist. It does give the AP carbon Alignhi Team Offshore a run for its money in terms of comfortability. And btw for those intereste...

Fantastic review of the Piaget Polo FortyFive Chrono

 By: ED209 : August 17th, 2009-23:25
Hi Anthony, I really enjoyed reading your in depth review of the Piaget Polo FortyFive Chrono. Great videos too. I agree with you about the 3 -date display, IMO it would look much nicer if it only displayed one date. I also think it was strange that the p...

Yeah the reset chrono pusher was just too stiff

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 19th, 2009-12:52
I've never handled any other chrono with such a stiff reset pusher, and I hope Piaget looks into it. Cheers, AT

A little BIRDIE told me that

PIAGET is taking note of the comments on various parts of the PuristS forums..... Changes may be afoot........... MTF

That is good......BUT

what about those considering getting the watch? should they hold off or bite?? anyway too late i love the watch anyway. also what is the timetable of making changes and getting it out of the pipeline? i hope they take heed on the bracelet, I hope they mak...

As posted on another thread on this forum, the RUMOUR of a USA re-call is FALSE. As with F1 Grand Prix cars, continual improvements are introduced after each race during the season. Since the USA was the first region to receive the Polo FortyFive watches,...

I got one from my watch supplier

 By: Spoon : August 18th, 2009-09:09

Thanks Thomas. Too a lot longer to write this review than other reviews

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 24th, 2009-19:30
Had writer's block initially which is why it took me a long time to be able to write the first sentence. Or is it just because of procrastination? :P Cheers, Anthony

I like your review ! So complete!

 By: LCDW : August 22nd, 2009-17:39
Thank you for the completely comprehensive review, Anthony. I like the ways you go through every details from the history, the pic of classic polo and the nook and corners of Polo 45 in every ways I can imagine a watch should and could be reviewed ! Curre...

Thanks Linda. I hope Piaget rounds the edges

of your deployant more so you don't get the reddening irritation. MTF write great articles on Piaget's history and classic Polo watches, so he's the one to thank for the introductory lead-in of my review. My review wouldn't be the same without his prior p...

Thanks John. Were the videos too long in length though?

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 23rd, 2009-09:29
I know it's annoying to have to wait to download the video from YouTube. If they're too large, I'll use smaller sized HD videos next time. Cheers, Anthony

not for me

Hello Anthony, The videos loaded pretty quickly for me on a cable internet connection. They didn't add a whole lot to the review for me (you'll notice I didn't even watch them initially), but I can imagine that if I were seriously considering purchasing t...

The bright spots in the video is the reflection of the sun since I did shoot the video in ultra bright daylight. I didn't know it would come out like that because my old non-HD videos never had that effect. I guess it has its charm in a certain kind of wa...

I really like where Piaget is going with this line. They have also staffed their boutique in Las Vegas with great team. I was very impressed with my sales rep, she really knew the product and wanted me to also know the product.

That's great to hear

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 27th, 2009-18:26
I'm curious to see what new Polo FortyFive models Piaget will release at SIHH 2010 and 2011. We'll get a little better idea then of where they'll be heading with this collection line. Cheers, Anthony
