Piaget, Master of Ultra-Thin Exhibition with Cortina Watch 15 to 19 Feb 2012

Feb 15, 2012,06:40 AM

Piaget, renowned Swiss watchmaker and jeweller, partners with Cortina Watch to present the “Master of Ultra-Thin” exhibition for the first time in South-East Asia, from the 15th to the 19th of February 2012 at the Paragon Shopping Centre.

Piaget is proud to share its journey in the Haute Horlogerie industry for more than 130 years, this time, in particular, using its Altiplano collection to exhibit its total commitment towards exquisite craftsmanship and relentless pursuit towards excellence.

The exhibition has been segregated into two main sections – heritage and collection area. The heritage area consists of selected pieces from its museum collection, particularly the original 9P and 12 Calibres, specially flown-in from Geneva - allowing visitors to have a glimpse of Piaget’s rich history in ultra-thin movement making.

When Calibre 9P was launched in 1957, Piaget caused a sensation as it was at that time, the world’s thinnest mechanical hand-wound movement at just 2 mm thick. Two years later, Piaget exceeded the world’s expectations by unveiling the Calibre 12P, with a mere thickness of 2.3 mm and in turn, set another world record in the ultra-thin self-winding movements.

In the other section, Piaget houses its iconic Altiplano collection, showcasing its array of ultra-thin timepieces. The collection includes a Altiplano 43 mm watch, which is currently the thinnest automatic watch in the world. Tapering lugs and a pure dial: the entire range of features translates the understated elegance that is the epicentre of this ethereal timepiece

Visitors are taken on personalized tours of the exhibition, taking time to admire Piaget’s timeless pieces and learn about its mastery as a manufacture – from designing, creating, assembling and right down to the exemplary finishing of the movements and watches through multimedia aids. All in all, engaging visitors into the world of Piaget.

Thanks Kong for taking the photos and reporting from the exhibition. I have never seen the Napoleon coin watch in-person and open. When you actually realise that is thethickness of a coin, then the ultra-thin label makes sense applied to the Piaget moveme...

Thanks, Kong!

Very cool exhibit! I love the 1960s Altiplanos. Simple and elegant, but with some amazing details on the bracelets oftentimes. Thanks for bringing the exhibition to those of us outside Singapore! Cheers, Daos

Miss it unfortunately....
