For it:
- Keep strap life much longer, especially on dress watches with thin leather strap.
- Once set, you have a "fixed" size for the strap to match your wrist.
Against:
- Usually ticker.
- Many are not comfortable and dig into your wrist.
- Makes the buckle (inner wrist) much longer.
The comfort depends on the design, the strap width and the watch head weight and weight distribution. All of that dictates if tyou need to wear the watch tight, so it won't roll, or you can loosen it and it will still be comfortable.
So, to generalize it, is not always a good idea as not all depleyants created equal.
The AP with its single fold and "AP" logo design, digs into your wrist,
The Rolex on oyster flex is brilliant.
The Panerai are quite comfortable,
The Patek on a 5960P works well.
And there are so many in between.
