Piaget Polo 45 chrono back to Piaget Factory.......:(

Sep 07, 2009,20:22 PM

Guys my dad has had the piaget polo 45 for about 2 weeks already. oozing class and the shape is just amazing.
The bracelet is uber comfy yet i agree with the others about the sharp edges. maybe a little beveling would be
beneficial to its wearers.

people have commented on the excessive verbage but i find it to be non distracting in normal use. Macro shots
of the watch do not give it justice and looks stunning in the flesh. all in all this one blows my dads other choice
by a mile.

there was one slight hitch. the watch fell on a concrete floor as my dad was practing a golf swing. was not hitting a ball
but was doing a dry swing. the watch flew up as he made his follow through. watch flew upwards and we both could
see the watch in slow motion but were powerless to do anything about it. watch fell on a polished concrete floor.

we immediately went to the local Piaget shop and had it checked. the watch has completely stopped. the case was completely
intact and not a single dent or scracth. we had the mechanismchecked and one of the gears was out of alignment. they said they
could not do it locally and had to be sent to switzerland to be fixed. so bummer!

upon investigation, the culprit was that the screws that attach the strap to the case had no loctite and all screws were coming loose
hence the strap coming off. we took pics of the watch up close and sent to Piaget head factory. all other piaget polos in the shop
clearly had loctite on the screws but this one did not have any. can any one confirm? i am just basing this one what the Piaget
technician told me.

anyway the watch is under warranty and they will address this matter.

At least we know the deployant clasp is secure since it didn't pop open. Sorry don't know about the loctite but hopefully MTF can get us the answer. Glad to hear that Piaget will take care of the repairs. - AT PS. Below is a pic of the strap screws....

Thanks for the pics.

yes my heart did stop but i was in shock. had to happen in a golf swing, the watch must have flown ten feet off the ground and land smack on the cement floor. must have landed on the crystal side or strap as there are virtually no scratches or dents. the ...

I gashed my dato when it was 2 months old or so and my heart ached. I must say, I'm quite surprised the 45 is less robust than I thought. In any case, I'm sure piaget will put you right.

Loctite: response from Piaget

All I can confirm is that Piaget does use glue to lock the screws on those straps for this watch model. It is a common engineering solution. In North America, this may be Loctite brand or "Loctite-like" material. There are many QC steps to ensure adequate...

yup there was no loctite-like substance on screws

 By: Spoon : September 9th, 2009-17:09
the piaget technicians used a loupe and inspected all 4 screws and all were missing the adhesive/glue to secure the screws. what is surprising is that none of the screws had them. clearly this step was overlooked. like i said the other polos had the subst...

still waiting for the watch....
