Piaget Singapore Marina Bay Sands boutique reopening

Piaget Singapore re-opened its boutique in Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, with a new concept interior.

I was fortunate to be invited to the boutique re-opening cocktail party tonight. I am still relatively unfamiliar with the Piaget brand and am keen to learn more tonight.

As I didn't have a Piaget watch, I spent some thinking what watch should be my companion for tonight? My Langes?

The ah ha moment came when I remember that my Cartier Tank Louis Cartier ultra thin has a Piaget 430P movement! Of course it has to be my Cartier for tonight smile

The new boutique is a nice and cosy one. Not too big, brightly lit and somehow, I felt it was very cosy with the interior decor (due to the warm lights and colors).

The boutique has a good selection of both watches and jewelry with a little more retail space dedicated for watches.

Nicely decorated for Christmas too!

As I looked around, the first thing that caught my attention is the beautiful and most elegant Piaget Altiplano 900P. It has reached Singapore for sale!

I saw it in Watches and Wonders in Hong Kong in 2014 and played with it for awhile then. Tonight I had more time to admire its ultra thin construction - the thinnest mechanical watch in the world at just 3.65mm thick, err I mean 3.65mm thin.

It's amazing how the caseback is the base plate of the movement itself, to make it so thin. That is a mechanical marvel and design in itself.

(Sorry for my poor iPhone pics. I was out with my eldest girl and wife tonight and couldn't bring my camera and I also struggled to take nicer shots with my girl tagging along.)

It is a marvel to look at the dial, seeing the balance wheel in motion. Similar kind of feeling when I look at my MB&F legacy machine. I can look at the dial for a long time and be entertained!

The grey color theme on the dial also gives it a rather mysterious look. Impressive feeling on the wrist. I like it! The only weird feeling I have is one I had with the JLC Master Ultra thin jubilee. I guess I am not used to such (extreme) thin watch.

The thinest watch I have is my Tank LC and that's about the thinnest I have experienced. The 900P is really cool and probably needs some adjusting to its ultra thin case for those of us used to thicker watches.

Piaget invited one of their watch makers to the boutique. She was there to coach us in movement assembly.

Note that these are not Piaget movements but other 3rd party mechanical movements which are larger, thicker and easier to assemble and play around than say a dainty 430P or 900P movement!

The other special feature in the event tonight is a special studio at the back of the boutique where a professional photographer was stationed to take nice portraits for guests with Piaget jewelry or watches (they lent it to the guests for the photoshot). This was very popular with the ladies!

My wife opted for this. I thought she would choose jewelry (Piaget jewelry is really pretty!) but she chose a watch instead! smile

She chose the Piaget Limelight Blooming Rose for the photo shot. I am proud of her taste smile

Piaget will then send those portraits to the addresses of those who took part. I thought this was really a smart idea to win the ladies' hearts!

(now my wife keeps hinting to me that she likes the Limelight Blooming Rose!)

Some other photos of Piaget's watch collections I saw in the boutique. As someone relatively new to Piaget, as I learn more about their watches, I find dress and jewelry watches are segments they do very well.

"Elegance, gems and diamonds, black tie events, ball room dancing, ultra thin mechanical marvels" - these are pretty much the key words that come to my mind after looking at their collections tonight.

The Mythical Journey collection:

The Polo and Dancer in full diamonds:

The Black Tie collection:

A rose gold Altiplano which I like. I like how the dial plays with light and the warmth of the rose gold.
This one is thin but not too thin and the price is pretty good smile

Thank you Piaget and MBS Singapore for a wonderful party tonight and for hosting us.

I wish Piaget Singapore all success in their newly reopened boutique at Marina Bay Sands Singapore.

Merry Christmas to all Piaget PuristS friends in advance too! smile

May you all get the watches you want this Christmas!

Cheers

robin
