As Tiger's eye is extinct; your Piaget is better than the Audemars Piguet

Jun 28, 2014,09:33 AM

shadowprince2000,

Beautiful.......

I like Audemars Piguet too and have a few nice pieces but as that species of Tiger's Eye is 'all mined out' with no new supplies, you have an impossibly rare piece now. Those pieces will circulate forever or until each piece is destroyed by future generations.

Leave a big note in your Will so your descendants don't make that mistake  smile

Regards,

MTF

 By: MTF : April 4th, 2013-04:34
damjan, Are you a polo fan-boy? By that I mean a fan of the game with the ponies. The Piaget Polo FortyFive Chronograph Marcos Heguy Edition is marked Handicap 10 because of his 10-goal handicap. That means that any team that he plays for is immediately m...

Piaget usually has blue dial with rose gold case

 By: MTF : April 4th, 2013-12:56
sandgroper, Piaget usually pairs blue dial with rose gold case like this ONLY Watch for the Monaco charity auction. The Altiplano Automatic you voted for is 'especially' special because it has no seconds hand and is a limited edition for the 50th annivers...

Thank you MTF, this anniversary is extremely nice....

just don't really like the word "automatique" but it's just a detail. Cheers, Francois

Catch-22 about the Piaget "Automatic" wording

 By: MTF : April 4th, 2013-22:46
sandgroper, Some of us discussed the words "automatic" on the dial before. In general, most Swiss brands print "Automatic" on the dial for automatic movements; I'm not sure if its a "requirement". The main discussion point was the length of the phrase on ...

Thank you MTF:) [nt]

The conflict in the Maison

 By: MTF : April 11th, 2013-20:31
Bill, The Gouverneur has sneaked onto my radar since I saw it at SIHH 2012 and actually tried one at a dinner party before Christmas. I agree with the classical choice and, in fact, I prefer black dials for white and rose gold cases. Somehow, white / silv...

I like # 6, 13; but not on me...

 By: patrick_y : April 13th, 2013-11:29
Blue is highly prevalent because it's a universal color to match with. More subtle than red and equally appreciated.

But #13 is not even blue?!?

But I saw this video on HOME

 By: patrick_y : April 15th, 2013-10:28
I saw this video on HOME and I really appreciated how the bracelet was made... That's why I chose that non-blue one... I'm partial to things I understand.

A reasonable reason... (nt)

From your collection, we already know your preference for the hard stone dials on vintage Piaget. I agree they are prettier but also some are impossible to make today because the stone has been "all mined out". Tiger Eye or pietersite is now 'extinct'. Th...

You won`t imagine my passion for precious stone dials particularly tiger`s eye. I traded my white gold , onyx dial Audemars Piguet and added 2000$ for a yellow gold , tiger`s eye dial Piaget.. Feel sorry for loosing my AP,but my heart always beats for Pia...

Both are such wonderful watches, for me it would be a tough choice. I like both a lot, but a person has to follow his/her heart and choose the pieces that really make one smile. Congrats on your Tiger's Eye Piaget its a beauty! Best regards, Dino
