The scheming Altiplano Double-Jeu

Last saturday, I had the chance to handle this Altiplano Double-Jeu. I would like to thank the staff of the Piaget boutique of Paris for the warm welcome!

The Altiplano Double-Jeu may look very classic but in fact, it's one of the most original watches of the industry.

Inpired by the secret watches, taking advantage of the skills of the Piaget  Manufacture in ultra-thin calibers, the Altiplano Double-Jeu is an unique combo of two watches in one.

At first glance, it appears to be a larger Altiplano (42mm)  with a thicker bezel.

The following version is the WG one:

The silver dial of the upper watch has the classic Altiplano indexes.

Despite the presence of two calibers, of the hinge, the case is elegant and its finishings are excellent. And it's not that thick.

We press the pusher... and what a pleasure to open the watch! We discover the handwind caliber 838P, with a power reserve of 65 hours, a thickness of 2,5mm and a frequency of 3hz. As always with Piaget, the decoration is discrete and refined.

The lower watch has a dark grey dial with silver indexes. The contrast between the two dials is very nice.

The caliber of the lower watch is the 830P which has the same features than the 838P, except the small seconds indicator.

The usual wristshot. I must confess it's a very comfortable watch to wear.

Of course, the most interesting point of the Double-Jeu is this combo of two independant calibers. But I really think that the owner of the watch has the same feeling with it than with an hunter case watch. Pressing the pusher and discovering the lower watch gives an unique feeling.
